I first encountered "Poisson d'Avril" when Tuxedomoon was playing in Bordeaux in 1981. I stepped into a photo booth for an ancient selfie. When I saw the results, there was a fish taped over the lens and thus over my face. I asked a French friend what the hell that meant and he replied "Ah ha ha. Poisson d'Avril!" The fish of April.
